ROUND 10 v DUNNSTOWN
FOOTBALL
Under 12s - After a big weekend of muddy football last weekend the under 12s played another good game on a nice morning against Dunnstown. The coaching staff were very pleased with the teams effort coming out comfortable winners. Skipton 44 def Dunnstown 7. Awards to James Read, Bowen Corbett and George Wills
Under 15s - It was another great win by the under 15s who are rolling along very nicely sitting on top of ladder. The return of Harry Wills helped cover some injuries and he booted 5 goals along with his brother Lachy who also snagged 5 goals. Keep up the good work!! Skipton 90 def Dunnstown 7. Awards to Tom McCarthy, Campbell Kennedy and Jack Liston. Under 18s - A very tightly fort game all day with Dunnstown leading for most of the game. Our boys came home hard in the last quarter as the conditions became wet and slippery. With only minutes to go we had shots on goal not being able to convert them. It became very tense as Cree Stranks had a shot from a very tight angle after the final siren but unfortunately it drifted off to the left and we went down by 3 points. Skipton 26 def by Dunnstown 29. Well done on a great game, better players Brad Uwland and Cree Stranks. Reserves - A tough day at the office for our reserves team coming up against a very good Dunnstown outfit. They blew us away early and were never headed after that. We battled hard all day in the slippery conditions. Skipton 33 def by Dunnstown 97. Better players were our big men Tim Gawne and Lachy Parker. Seniors - The senior team turned a corner on Saturday with a great start kicking the first three goals to establish a good lead. Dunnstown looked a little stunned as we tackled hard putting them under great pressure forcing the ball forward for Curt Townrow to score 4 first half goals. In the end we ran out 14 point winners. Skipton 71 def Dunnstown 57. Better players Kal Dubbledam, Curt Townrow and Hamish Young. Was great to lift the roof off the Dunnstown sheds after the game. Well done lads!!
NETBALL
The Skipton girls were up against both tough competition and terrible conditions when they took on Dunnstown at Dunnstown on Saturday.
They day started both dry and successful with yet another win to the 13b girls, getting up 14 to 5. Awards to Bronte Molloy and Keeley Clark. We are very glad Sophie is ok after her fall and quick trip to Hospital.
Under 13as had some strong opposition and went down 10 to 25. Awards received by Holly Draffin and Tess Bingham.
The under 15 girls played incredibly! Some great team work after Kate's injury and Alex staying on to play all game, the girls stepped it up a notch to take away their second win of the year 24 to 21. Charlotte Maxted and Alexander grieves took the awards in a great team effort.
The under 17 opposition were a very tall side and had the edge on us, beating us 9 to 23. The girls didn’t give up with Sophie Danieli and Megan Liston taking the awards.
Unfortunately none of our senior sides were strong enough to get over Dunnstown though all teams had some great passages of play despite the wet weather. All teams played a strong 4 quarters with no-one dropping heads in the trying conditions.
C grade went down 16 to 54 with awards to Alee Bryce, Elise Crick and Ruby Bingham up from the under 17s.
B Grade got a little closer and were within touch most of the game going down 21 to 33. Awards to Amy Lodge, Gemma Molloy and Jaymee Crack.
A grade Liz Barr, Laura Fay and Hayley Jones took the awards for A grade in their 17 to 60 goal loss but from the sidelines the girls played well as a team and had some great patches.
There will be lots of rivalry next week when we take on Beaufort at home. Hopefully we can pull together a few more wins for the Club.
